Devjoy Ltd (“Devjoy Agency”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Ryze iOS application (“the App”) and the website at ryzealarm.app (together, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use Ryze.
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or website.
1. Who we are
Ryze is a mission-based alarm for iPhone (bundle id
agency.devjoy.ryze). Contact:
hello@ryzealarm.app.
2. Information we collect
Alarm & usage data (on device). Alarm schedules, mission preferences, wake-up times, streak and rest-day data, achievements, wake history, your onboarding answers, the commitment statement you write, the signature you draw, and app settings are stored locally on your device (for example with SwiftData and related on-device storage). This data is not transmitted to servers we operate.
Optional profile details. If you provide a name, email, or similar details during setup, they may be stored locally on your device. If you share an email, it may also be used to identify you in analytics (see below) and for support replies when you contact us.
Analytics & diagnostics. We use PostHog to collect product analytics such as feature use, onboarding steps, screens viewed, app open and close events, alarm events, and mission completion signals. PostHog also captures error and crash diagnostics (such as error messages and stack traces) so we can fix problems. Device details (model, OS version) may be included for debugging and compatibility. By default these events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name — if you have given us an email address it may be attached to that identifier. Analytics helps us improve Ryze; it is not used to sell ads, and we do not use it for advertising tracking or ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Notifications. Reminders (set-an-alarm nudges, wake-up and streak reminders, bedtime reminders) and the Live Activity shown while a mission is running are scheduled and displayed by iOS on your device. We do not operate a push server and do not send marketing notifications.
Subscription data. Subscription and purchase status are managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card details — purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
Website. Our marketing site may collect standard web server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) needed to operate and secure the site. We do not run an e-commerce checkout on ryzealarm.app.
Support. If you email us, we receive the content of your message and any contact details you include so we can respond.
3. Camera, microphone & speech
Some missions need the camera and/or microphone. Exercise missions (push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups) record a short video clip of you doing the movement. Photo missions (empty bed, picture of sky, item search, touch grass) take a single still photo. Read-aloud missions (Bible verse, affirmation) listen while you speak. Math is the mission that needs no permission at all, and missions that need nothing but the screen are always available.
- Mission photos are held in memory only, checked on-device with Apple’s Vision framework, and released the moment the mission ends — they are never written to disk. Exercise video clips are written to a temporary folder on your device, analysed the same way, and deleted immediately after the mission ends. Neither is ever uploaded to servers we operate, shared with third parties, or used to train models. Exercise clips are recorded without audio.
- The camera and microphone are only active while a mission is on screen. Neither runs in the background.
- Read-aloud missions use Apple’s speech recognition. Recognition runs on-device when the device supports it; otherwise Apple may process recognition in the cloud under Apple’s privacy terms. We do not record or upload mission audio to servers we operate.
- Ryze does not request access to your photo library, contacts, location, health data, or Apple Music.
- You can revoke camera, microphone, or speech recognition permissions anytime in iOS Settings. Some missions will not work without the related permission.
4. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve Ryze features.
- Track alarms, streaks, and achievements on your device.
- Process and manage subscriptions via Apple and RevenueCat.
- Analyze usage (including via PostHog) to improve the product.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
- Comply with law and protect the security of the Services.
We do not sell or rent your personal information for marketing.
5. Third-party services
The App uses third-party services that process limited data under their own policies:
- PostHog — product analytics. Privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Privacy policy.
- Apple — App Store billing, notifications, AlarmKit, and Screen Time / Family Controls when you enable Bedtime App Lock. Apple Privacy Policy.
6. Screen Time, Bedtime App Lock & deletion lock
Optional Bedtime App Lock uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to restrict apps you select during a bedtime window. The optional “Don’t let me delete Ryze” setting uses the same APIs to block app removal on your iPhone while an alarm is armed. Both are off unless you turn them on, and both can be turned off again inside the App at any time.
That configuration is managed by the operating system. Your app selection stays on your device in an Apple-provided opaque token; Ryze cannot read which apps you chose, and we do not receive a copy of your Screen Time or browsing history. We only enable the shield experience you configure in the App.
7. Data storage & security
- Local app data is protected by your device security (passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, etc.).
- We do not operate backend servers that store your personal alarm or streak data.
- Mission photos are never written to disk. Exercise clips live in a temporary folder for the length of the mission and are deleted as soon as it ends; any left behind by an interrupted mission are cleared on the next launch.
- Analytics traffic to PostHog is encrypted in transit. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8. International transfers
Our third-party providers (such as PostHog and RevenueCat) may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, those providers use appropriate safeguards. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence.
9. Retention
- Local data (alarms, streaks, and settings) remains on your device until you delete the App.
- Analytics retention follows PostHog’s policies; subscription records follow RevenueCat and Apple.
- Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for ordinary business records.
10. Your rights & choices
- View alarms, streaks, and related data in the App.
- Delete local data by uninstalling the App. Subscriptions are managed separately in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Revoke camera, microphone, notifications, or Screen Time access in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal data held by us or our processors. Contact hello@ryzealarm.app and we will help where we can, including facilitating requests related to analytics or subscription records.
11. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law. Material changes may also be noted in the App or on the website.
